Driver Slams Into Utility Pole, Fire Hydrant On Memorial Drive

A driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole near 41st Street and Memorial Drive Thursday evening.

Another driver hit a pole the night before in nearly the same spot.

Police said a man in an SUV jumped a curb about 10:45 p.m., hit a street sign and crashed into a pole and fire hydrant.

The driver was not seriously hurt and received a couple of minor traffic violations, according to TPD Sgt. Justin Farley.

Farley said it appears speed and inattentive driving were factors in the one-vehicle collision.
