TU Engineering Summer Camp Gets Kids Excited About Science

You could call it summer camp for smarties. University of Tulsa partnered with Flight Safety International to host a one-day engineering summer camp for young teens.

Seventh, eighth, and ninth graders spent their day talking to engineers, playing in flight simulators, and competing in design challenges.

While they had a lot of fun, the goal is to get the campers interested in a career in engineering.

"They get to join in seeing real science and engineering and captivate their interest at an early age, and boy, our state and our nation really need kids at this age to light up over science and engineering," said host Jerry McCoy.

TU is one of six Oklahoma colleges hosting a Tulsa Alliance for Engineering Summer Camp this week.
