A motorcycle crashed into a guardrail on Avery Drive Friday night, killing the passenger.

According to a collision report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Racquel N. Black, 39, of Tulsa, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 10 p.m.

The driver, Steven M. Harrison, 42, of Sand Springs, was westbound at a high rate of speed when he negotiated a curve, crossed the white line and struck the guardrail, the report says.

Avery Drive is a scenic, two-lane Tulsa County road. The crash happened just west of Chandler Park.

"Avery Drive is pretty windy, lots of curves," said Trooper Matthew Middleton. "Lot of accidents happen here all the time. Like people driving real high rates of speed. But the main thing is - we just need to slow down out here."

Harrison was admitted to a local hospital with trunk injuries and is said to be stable.

Both Black and Harrison were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, OHP said.
