Police were able to locate the white Lincoln Continental that transported Chenney to the hospital. The owner of the car has been interviewed by the US Marshals Violent Crime Task Force and the Wagoner Police Department, TPD Sgt. Dave Walker said in a statement.
TPD homicide detectives still are conducting interviews with others at the apartment complex, as well as those believed to be riding in the car at the time Chenney was ditched.
Citing "less than forthcoming" explanations about the motive, police have declined to name those who have been interviewed or may be considered persons of interest or suspects.
No arrests have been made in the case.
At the time of his death, Chenney was serving a deferred sentence through the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for a 2011 first-degree burglary conviction, according to online DOC records. Chenney pleaded guilty to burglarious intent and kicking in the door of an Owasso home while the resident was inside. He was sentenced as a youthful offender.
Documents show his stay in a juvenile facility was littered with further disciplinary action, both minor and major, and he was transferred to the adult system after his 18th birthday in October 2012. His deferred sentence wasn't set to expire until 2023.
Chenney's homicide marks the city's 32nd of 2013.
