Good Samaritan Snaps Photos Of Tulsa Hit-And-Run Driver

A Good Samaritan has gone above and beyond in his effort to track down a man who left the scene of a car crash that injured two women. Dennis was at a stop light on May 31st when he saw a man slam into the back of another car that was also stopped.

When the man put it in reverse, Dennis used his truck to block the man in so he couldn't leave and grabbed his camera.

Dennis says he's just the kind of man who couldn't let it go, when he saw a man try to leave the scene of an accident that sent two women to the hospital.

It happened around 10:30 in the morning on a Friday. He had been going east on I-44 and gotten off at the 21st Street exit. He was stopped at the light when it happened.

"When he hit her, I was a little bit in front of her. I saw him back up, so I moved my truck," said Dennis, Good Samaritan.

Dennis said he could tell the man was trying to get away.

With Dennis' truck blocking in the suspect, he says the man took off walking, so Dennis took pictures of him and the white Caprice he was driving. You can see the damage to the car and even the man's tag number.

Dennis says the man got about a half a block away, turned around and came back, but rather than checking on the victims or sticking around, got in his car and took off, slamming into Dennis' open truck door.

"He started driving between the cars and I told him, 'don't hit my door and he went right into it,'" Dennis said.

When Dennis printed the pictures, he noticed something on the man's leg.

"I wondered why he's wearing a rag around his left ankle and somebody said, 'that's an ankle monitor.'"

Yep, an ankle monitor - clearly this person had been in trouble before.

So, Dennis went to the probation office to see if the man was being monitored there, then to the District Attorney's office, to see if they recognized him, but hit another dead end, so he contacted me.

All this time and effort to help two women he's never even met.

Lori Fullbright: "You're kinda determined aren't ya?"
Dennis: "Yeah, I'd like those girls to get some restitution."

I talked to the woman who was hit. She and her passenger got out of the hospital that night, but she's still without a car. She's just glad the impact didn't slam her into the car in front of her, because it had a baby inside.
