A 22-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his truck on a dirt road in Kay County Monday evening.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the wreck happened just after 6 p.m. on Ranch Drive, northwest of Ponca City.

Troopers say James Brown, 22, was speeding and lost control of his 1997 Ford pickup and went off the road to the left. The truck rolled nearly three times, coming to rest on the passenger side.

OHP says Brown was thrown 48 feet from where the truck stopped. He died at the scene.

Troopers say Brown was wearing his seatbelt.
