Broken Arrow Family Picking Up Pieces From EF2 Tornado

At least nine people were killed in tornadoes that hit central Oklahoma Friday.

And the last 48 hours have been difficult for some tornado survivors right here at home.

Several families in Broken Arrow are still picking up the pieces of their homes after a tornado cut a 6-mile path through their community on Thursday.

On a beautiful day like Saturday, the Perrier family should be enjoying the family boat or the family pool, but after an EF2 tornado rolled through town, they're trying to save their belongings.

The National Weather Service says the tornado packed winds up to 135 miles per hour.

The Perrier family and friends survived the tornado, but it almost lifted the roof off their house.

They've spent much of the weekend cleaning up their property and putting all of their belongings into storage

"We fared pretty well," Steve Perrier said. "We didn't have any leaks, any water in the house. So we're doing good so far. It's just a race to get everything out before you know we get any more rain or wind or anything else."

The Perrier family said the damage sustained in the tornado has made their home structurally unsound. They've boarded up some of the windows and tried to secure the home.

In the meantime, they will be staying with family.
