Oklahoma Flooding Worries Rise With More Rain In Forecast

Rainfall over the past couple of days has many rivers and creeks in northeastern Oklahoma at or above flood stage.

The National Weather Service says a flood warning continues for the Verdigris River near Lenapah.  Flood stage is 30 feet and as of noon Friday, the river was at 31 feet. 

Flood stage for the Caney River is 26 feet at Ramona and Collinsville and as of noon Friday, the river at Ramona was just over 26 feet and at Collinsville it was just over 28 feet.

The National Weather Service says moderate flooding is possible Friday evening and Saturday morning. Flooding in the area has already closed some county roads in Washington and Tulsa counties.

There is a risk of moderate flooding forecast for Bird Creek near Sperry.

The National Weather Service says the flood warning will remain in effect because of the potential for more rain Friday night and early Saturday.

Flooding would impact rural areas from Skiatook to Turley in Tulsa County.

The National Weather Service says a flood watch continues for several rivers in eastern Oklahoma.

• Illinois River near Tahlequah and Watts [Adair and Cherokee counties]
• Flint Creek near Kansas [Cherokee and Delaware counties]
• Baron Fork River at Eldon [Cherokee County]
