Collinsville Man Killed, Wife Injured In Motorcycle Crash

A Collinsville man was killed and his wife critically injured in a late night motorcycle wreck Friday in Broken Arrow. Police say Virgil Eugene Hillock III was pronounced dead near the intersection of Elm Place and Elm Avenue after his Victory VX4 motorcycle struck a stop sign.

Hillock, 31, was northbound on Elm Place just before 11:30 p.m. "in excess of the speed limit" when he entered a right hand curve south of the intersection, according to BA Traffic Specialist Sergeant Ed Ferguson.

The motorcycle continued straight across three lanes of traffic and struck the curb on the west side of Elm Place. The Victory then hit a stop sign and came to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection, Ferguson said in a news release.

"Both the driver of the motorcycle and the passenger received significant injuries in the crash," the sergeant said. Passenger Tara Jenee Hillock of Collinsville, 24, was taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition. Ferguson said she is the wife of the driver.

Neither husband nor wife was wearing a helmet.

The collision is still under investigation, Ferguson said.
