Susie, a Schipperke-Border Collie mix who stood guard over a body following the Moore tornado, was reunited with her owner earlier this week. Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said the dog was actually guarding an unknown victim of the EF-5 tornado.
"Susie and Curtis (Collins) live about a half mile from where she was found by our deputy, and Curtis has no idea why she stood guard of the victim whom he did not know," the Sheriff's Office said on their Facebook page.
Susie was found sitting in the rubble of a home on Monday, "standing guard over a deceased male inside a house in Moore," the Sheriff's Office said in its post. A deputy convinced Susie to leave the side of the victim. The deputy was planning to adopt the dog, thinking she was guarding her owner.

A woman saw the pictures of Susie that went viral earlier this week and told OCSO that the dog belonged to her brother, Curtis Collins. He had been searching for his 12-year-old pet.
"It was an emotional reunion between Susie and Curtis, one we were glad to have been a part of," the law enforcement agency noted on its Facebook page Wednesday.
Collins asked anyone who was touched by his dog's story to make a donation to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society to assist other pets who are homeless following the storm.
