A man was killed Saturday morning in a two-car collision on a rural Rogers County Road. The early morning crash took place at the intersection of South 4250 Road and West 590 Road about five miles west of Chouteau.

Troopers say William Cooper, 33, was southbound on South 4250 in a Nissan Altima at about 7:20 a.m. and failed to stop at the stop sign. The driver of a pickup that was westbound on West 590 tried to avoid the car but hit the Nissan on the driver's side door.

The crashed killed Cooper, a Claremore resident. Anthony Rumore of Inola, the driver of the pickup, was uninjured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Troopers say both men were wearing seat belts.

Inola and Chouteau Fire Departments assisted Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers at the scene, as did Mayes County Sheriff's Office and Chouteau Police Department.
