The Oral Roberts offense came alive against Northwestern State on Friday, as the Golden Eagles clinched a series victory over the Demons on the road, 9-2.

ORU improved its overall record to 23-29 and 16-10 in Southland Conference play, while the Demons fell to 4-22 in the conference and 15-39 overall.

Drew Bowen (3-3) earned his third victory of the season for ORU in seven innings of work. Bowen allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three Demon batters.

Kevin Cho and Brandon Healy each had three hits in the contest, while Logan Domenico and Austen Colt each added two. The Golden Eagles out hit the Demons 13 to four in the contest, including a home run by Colt, a triple from Cho and a pair of doubles by Domenico.

Cho helped start the scoring in the opening inning as he led the game off with a triple to left field and scored on an infield single off the bat of Healy.

In the top of the second, the Golden Eagles got some help from the Demon defense as ORU added four runs on three hits and a couple of NWLA errors.

With one out in the inning, Colt turned on a pitch and sent it just to the right of the left field foul pole for his first home run as a Golden Eagle.

In the top of the fifth, ORU continued to expand on its lead. With the bases loaded, Cho earned his third hit of the ball game with single to left to drive in Chris Williams.

The Demon defense struggled again with two outs in the ORU half of the fifth as they misplayed a pop fly off the bat of Jose Trevino. The ball bounced away from the fielders into foul ground, allowing two more runs to score.

Domenico extended the Golden Eagle lead to 9-0 in the top of the seventh with a double over the centerfielder's head to drive in Healy.

Northwestern State plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh on three hits. Nick Purdy singled to drive in Cort Brinson. Purdy later scored on a single up the middle by Todd Wallace.

Matt Farmer (0-2) took the loss for the Demons as he allowed five runs, two of which were earned, on five hits.

ORU goes for the sweep on Northwestern State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
