Two teenagers were arrested after leading Tulsa police on a short chase late Thursday. During a foot pursuit at the end of the chase, an officer was bitten by a police dog.
The incident began when the mother of one of the teens reported her minivan stolen at about 11 p.m. Thursday.
As police were taking her report, the minivan drove by and officers gave chase. The minivan crashed at Pine Street and Nogales Avenue. Two 15-year-olds left the van and ran to a park.
During the foot pursuit, police said one officer got between one of the teens and the K9 officer and she was accidentally bitten. The teenager was arrested. The officer was treated at the scene by EMSA.
TPD Cpl. Dan Miller said the mother told them she uses the minivan for work, so the crash will really cost her.
"She's just completely fed up with this young man causing all this terror, and decided she wants to file the charges on him, stick with it, and hopefully he'll learn his lesson and clean up his life," Miller said.
Police said the mother told them, in a previous incident, her son stole the minivan and dragged her down the street when she tried to stop him.
Both teens were booked into the Tulsa County jail.
