A Tulsa man is being held on a more than $300,000 bond after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and her son. Uvaldo Esparza-Ortiz was arrested Monday on multiple complaints including child abuse, domestic abuse, kidnapping and threatening a violent act.
Officers say they were called to the 10700 block of East 41st Street just after 4 a.m. Sunday. Esparza-Ortiz's girlfriend told them he woke her up by banging her head against a wall then dragging her into the bathroom. He then pulled out a knife and cut her arm, telling her she would not live to see tomorrow.
The 26-year-old man reportedly told the woman he was going to kill her and flee to Mexico with their daughter. He punched and kicked the victim, causing her young son to cry, according to police. When the woman tried to leave the apartment with her son, Esparza-Ortiz grabbed the boy and threw him to ground, injuring the child, police say.
The suspect left the apartment, and officers searched for him throughout the morning. On Monday, they learned he had returned to the apartment, and they arrested him for domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, assault and battery in the presence of a minor, child abuse, threatening a violent act, and an outstanding warrant for domestic assault and battery from earlier this year.
All complains are "AFCF," or after former conviction of a felony.
