A nursing home employee was arrested at a Tulsa bank trying to cash a check he wrote to himself on a patient's checking account, according to Tulsa Police. James Alexandre, 35, is in Tulsa County Jail on complaints of uttering a forged instrument and financial exploitation by a caretaker.

Arrest records say Alexandre was at the F&M Bank Monday afternoon at 81st and Memorial trying to cash a $5,000 check. A bank employee called the Broken Arrow nursing home resident and learned that the certified nursing assistant did not have permission to have the check.

Alexandre reportedly told police he was not supposed to take money or donations from nursing home residents but that he had been able to cash one stolen check for $6,000 in the last week and was trying to cash another.

His bond was set at $1,000.
