Oklahoma Air National Guard Members Return Home

Watch out world, 4-year-old Kane Dossett and his 2-year-old brother Kash are on a mission.

Their dad is about to walk through the door, and you better stay out of their way.

“Move it or lose it,” Kane Dossett said. “I'm here to pick up my dad.”

The boys haven't seen their dad, Tech Sgt. JJ Dossett, in eight months.

And there's something Kane has been wanting to tell him.

“I think I'll tell him I missed him,” he said.

And in the arms of their daddy, the distance of nearly a year, disappears.

“You know, they've missed him, they just want to wrestle him, that's the first thing they want to do. We're excited about that,” Sperry Resident Ashley Dossett said.

Sgt. Dossett was one of 50 Oklahoma soldiers back at home after arriving safely at the Tulsa International Airport on Saturday.

The squadron left in September and was stationed across Afghanistan to install communication cables, many times in dangerous combat zones.

“These guys, they've grown up without me,” Sgt. Dossett said. “That one was a baby when I left, he doesn't look like a baby anymore.”

But as Dossett's grandma pointed out, his young sons aren't the only ones who have changed.

“You look so handsome with that mustache,” Gigi said.

“I've been working on that just for you. Thank you,” Sgt. Dossett said.

Also in the crowd was Golden Retriever Sebastian.

“He almost pulled my dad's arm off,” guardswoman Tarah White said.

He was waiting to be reunited with White, the squadron's only female member.

“My guys were protective, and they tried to be there when I needed… support and they would say, "only you can cry, the others can't,” White said.

The homecoming was enough to make Nina Fioretti tear up. With balloons and banners, she welcomed home her only son, Tristan.

“Best Mother's Day present ever, coming home safe and sound,” Nina Fioretti said.

And for Tristan, the greatest gift is to help give his country freedom.

“The American soil, the freedom that's going to accompany me,” Tristan Fioretti said. “It's been very stringent over there, so to say.”

While deployed, the team completed more than 120 installation projects.
