The Tulsa used an eight-run fifth inning to clobber the Cardinals 15-4 in Springfield Monday night.
Tulsa (15-15) got solo homers from Kiel Roling and Kent Matthes to take a 2-0 lead into the fifth.
Jose Gonzalez led off the Drillers' huge inning with a solo shot to left field to go up 3-0. The fifth saw 13 Tulsa batters come to the plate, with four singles and three doubles and ended the inning with a 10-0 lead.
As if that wasn't enough, the Drillers broke the bats out again in the sixth. Delta Cleary's two-run double highlighted a five-run sixth inning as the Drillers took a whopping 15-0 lead.
The Cardinals added four runs down the stretch but it was way too little, way too late.
Tim Gustafson (1-2) pitched six innings, allowing just one run to earn his first win of the year. Anthony Ferrara (2-3) allowed seven runs in 4.1 innings.
Tulsa will go for the series split Tuesday at 11:09 a.m.
