UPDATE: On July 12, 2013, as the prosecution was set to present its case in a preliminary hearing, the state requested to drop the charge "in the best interest of justice." The judge granted the request.
A minor's drug overdose led a Tulsa County Sheriff's deputy to arrest an Owasso woman. Cindy Leann Shore was booked into Tulsa County Jail on a complaint of giving a controlled drug to a minor.
A deputy first talked to Shore at the Owasso Medical Center just after 7 p.m. Saturday while following up on an assault report. Shore, 46, told them a minor female relative was the victim in a fight with her boyfriend that had become physical the night before and throughout the day, according to an arrest report.
Shore also reportedly told authorities she had given the minor some of her own prescription Xanax to help calm the girls' nerves and help her get some sleep. The deputy spoke to the girl who told him Shore "frequently gives her prescription pain pills, anti-depressants and muscle relaxers," the report states. None of the medications were prescribed for the juvenile, according to the deputy.
The juvenile was transferred to a Tulsa hospital for drug overdose treatment, the deputy said. Shore was arrested on a felony complaint of delivering a controlled drug to a minor.
