Small Fire At Tulsa Elementary School Prompts Evacuation

Tulsa Fire got the call just after 7:30 a.m. to McKinley Elementary in the 6700 block of East King Street.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire in a portable classroom building at a Tulsa elementary school Tuesday morning.

Tulsa Fire got the call at about 7:30 a.m. to McKinley Elementary in the 6700 block of East King Street.

Firefighters saw light smoke coming from the building as they arrived.

Even though no one was in the classroom building, officials evacuated McKinley Elementary School as a precaution. 

The building houses a classroom for special needs students.

There were no reports of injuries. Firefighters say the fire was in the ceiling and the cause remains under investigation.
