An ODOT worker was hurt when a pickup collided with a bucket truck near the westbound lanes of Highway 412 at 129th West Avenue near the Sand Springs city limits.

According to ODOT, a three-person crew was using a bucket truck to install signs. An ODOT spokeswoman says the truck, also known as a cherry picker, was parked in the grass behind cones with its lights flashing when it was struck by a Toyota Tacoma pickup.

According to the OHP accident report, the pickup was driven by James Martin, 59, of Sand Springs. The report shows Martin was having a "medical episode" which caused the crash. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to the report.

The OHP said the utility truck was parked about 15 feet off of the roadway and the worker was in the bucket about 12 feet off the ground when the impact happened.

The worker, Gearl Ragsdale, 57, of Claremore, was thrown about four feet away from the truck. He was taken to the hospital and admitted in stable condition, according to the OHP report.

The other two ODOT workers were not hurt.
