The U.S. Geological Survey says six earthquakes shook central Oklahoma Tuesday. USGS geophysicist Jana Pursley says the tremors began about 1:45 a.m. and all were centered northeast of Oklahoma City.
The first quake was centered three miles west of Chandler. The United States Geological Survey says it was magnitude 3.0.
Fifteen minutes later, a 4.3 earthquake struck. It shook buildings from Oklahoma City to Stillwater. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
The U.S. Geological Survey says that quake was centered 29 miles northeast of Oklahoma City near Luther.
At 2:15 a.m. a third quake was reported by the USGS. It was magnitude 2.8 and centered near Boley, Oklahoma.
One minute later a fourth quake shook the area between Luther and Choctaw. The USGS says that one measured 3.3.
At 5:16 a.m., a fifth earthquake measuring magnitude 4.2 was recorded four miles northeast of Luther.
The latest quake struck at 12:07 p.m. and measured 3.5. The USGS says it was centered four miles northeast of Luther.
Pursley says all the quakes were shallow. Tuesday morning, Pursley said it is common for several earthquakes to strike during a short period of time.
