Work got underway Tuesday to remove the wreckage of a small plane that plunged into a vacant Collinsville home on Sunday.

A salvage team began hauling away pieces of the airplane Tuesday morning. The crew is working with the National Transportation Safety Board to make sure key pieces are more closely inspected before they're taken away.

Investigators say it could take up to a year to determine the cause of the crash.

Both men on board were killed; 71-year-old Ron Marshall was the pilot and his passenger was 40-year-old Chris Gruber. The were both from Kansas.
