Police and fire departments responded to a small hazardous materials spill at a Broken Arrow manufacturing business shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday.

The spill was self-contained at OSECO manufacturing at 1701 West Tacoma Street, according to Hazmat Captain Kenny Gunn of the Tulsa Fire Department.

"Broken Arrow Fire did have a plume that dissipated," he said. "There's no real danger to residences around."

Gunn said they believe an electrical surge caused "a bit of a reaction" resulting in the spill of hydrochloric acid at the business which manufactures rupture discs, explosion vents and other pressure relief products.

Broken Arrow Fire used extreme caution when they arrived at the business due to strong south winds. Tulsa's Hazmat team provided mutual aid.
