Authorities in LeFlore County say a 2-year-old boy has drowned after wandering away from his home Sunday.

It happened in the town of Howe in LeFlore County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Angel Hudson's mother reported him missing around 12:30 p.m.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, LeFlore County Sheriff's Office deputies and Howe Police arrived and began a search.  Hudson's body was recovered from a drainage ditch about 30 yards from his home just before 2 p.m.

The boy was taken to a Poteau hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office says recent rains had led to high water in the ditch.

The drowning has been ruled accidental.
