John Jackson is returning to the Tulsa Shock as the team's new strength and conditioning coach, the organization announced Monday. Jackson was with the team during the 2011 season.
Jackson is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. In college, Jackson played forward for Ohio Dominican University basketball team for one year then transferred to OU for track and field. He broke Oklahoma's school record becoming the first athlete in the Sooners' history to break 50 feet in the triple jump.
Jackson provides strength and conditioning services for all levels of sports and post therapeutic rehab needs through Impact Fitness, LLC in Tulsa. During Jackson's 15-year training career he has trained high school, college and professional athletes.
"John Jackson has a multitude of experience working with professional athletes and is highly respected as a strength and conditioning coach," said head coach Gary Kloppenburg. "We are fortunate to be able to add him to our staff for the 2013 season."
The Shock's home opener will be May 27 against the Washington Mystics at the BOK Center.
