A bill that cleared the state Senate Wednesday would target those who plan crimes of mass violence and those who don't report their knowledge of such plans.
Someone planning an act of mass violence could get life in prison if they're convicted. The measure also calls for offenders between ages 13 and 17 to be treated as adults.
Tulsa Senator Brian Crain wrote the bill. He said a tragedy was prevented in Bartlesville last December, because someone came forward about a shooting and bomb plot at the high school.
Crain said there should be serious consequences for not only those who plan attacks, but for anyone who chooses not to warn police.
The bill now heads to the House.
