Police: Assault Leaves Tulsa Victim Without An Ear

A man is in the Tulsa County jail after getting into a fight that left the victim partially scalped and without an ear.

Tulsa Police say Calvin Bakel, 20, attacked another man with a long iron rod Sunday evening.

The wife of the victim told officers Bakel attacked her husband in a home in the 1300 North Norwood Avenue. It is not clear what led to the assault.

Officers tracked down Bakel at a home in the 6300 block of East Newton Street and arrested him.

"Subject removed parts of victim's scalp, victim was also missing an ear," the arresting officer said in his report.

He was booked into jail on complaints of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and maiming.

Bakel is being held on a $70,000 bond with a court appearance set for March 11, 2013.

Court records show a history of drug convictions and was sentenced to four years in prison for delivery of a controlled drug.
