Tulsa dropped a 74-59 decision to Tulane on Sunday afternoon. Tulsa fell to 11-15 on the season and 6-7 in Conference USA, while the Green Wave moved to 20-6 overall and 9-4 in the league.
Taleya Mayberry had a team-leading 13 points and five assists, while Kelsee Grovey added 11 points.
There were six tied scores and three lead changes in the first half, but the Green Wave took a 34-32 advantage into the locker room. Grovey had a team-best seven points, while Couisnard had six points and nine rebounds in the first half. Both teams shot 41 percent from the field in the first frame, but Tulsa was 42 percent from three-point range compared to Tulane's dismal 12 percent.
The Green Wave started the second half with a 15-5 run as the Hurricane struggled to find the basket, going 1-for-7 in the first eight minutes. Tulsa also got into foul trouble, which put Tulane in the double bonus for over half the second frame. The Green Wave climbed to a game-high 21-point lead with 6:44 left to play and came away with the 15-point victory.
The Hurricane was 7-of-25 in the second half for just 28 percent from the field and went 1-for-6 for 16 percent from three-point range.
Tulane was led by Olivia Grayson with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and Janique Kautsky added 10 points and three steals. The Green Wave shot 44 percent from the field, 42 percent from behind the arc and scored 15 free throws in the second half.
Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, February 28th against Memphis. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
