The Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College livestock judging team won the horse division and finished forth overall at the Fort Worth Stock Show earlier this month.
It was the team's best finish in more than a decade, according to NEO.
"We are fortunate to have such a strong equine program at NEO," said Tyler Dewey, livestock judging coach. "I'm very proud of the team in how they performed in the horse division."
Coach Amanda Burrows practiced with students before their first experience judging horses as part of a contest. The horse division included two halter classes, quarter horse mares and geldings and a set of oral reasons, according to a news release.
In individual finishes, Megan Montgomery of Auxvasse, Missouri placed in horses, cattle and reasons division. Lindsay Reid of Harrah placed in horses.
Burrows traveled with the team to the Fort Worth competition.
"They are a very smart group of kids, and it was a privilege to work with such a talented group of individuals," she said.
Team members are Abby Hendrickson of Adair; Cheynee Moyer of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; Montgomery; Reid; Taylor Langford of Calhoun, Georgia; Robert Jones and Ryan Jones of Fair Grove, Missouri; Dylann Bishop of Willard, Missouri; Garrett Williams of Quemado, New Mexico; Caleb Lockard of Aurora, Missouri and Heston Prewitt of Perry.
