The rain and snow maker is quickly moving away from the region after producing significant snow across west central OK. Northeastern sections of the state experienced mainly rain, but late last night some snowfall did occur allowing for a dusting near northern Tulsa County. Some locations across Osage, Pawnee, Washington, Rogers, Nowata, and Craig County did receive some measurable snowfall, but amounts ranged from a dusting to near an inch or so. Areas along and south of the I-40 corridor across southern OK remained in the rain for the entire event. We're in great shape today with mostly sunny conditions and highs expected near 50.
A quick heads up: Bridges and overpasses may be slick in spots across extreme northern OK, so please use caution. Patchy fog and low clouds will develop this morning before moving out of the area by midday. We'll see sunshine later today with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
Our weather pattern will feature nice weather today and Thursday before another cold front will ooze into the area Thursday night. Thursday afternoon highs should move into the mid-50s but temps will drop by the evening as an arctic type air mass will move into the state. This air will keep Friday's highs near the upper 30s or lower 40s along with mostly cloudy conditions. A few snow showers may occur, but nothing significant is expected.
The air mass should remain in place Saturday with morning lows in the 20s and highs only in the lower 40s. South winds will return Sunday and so will relatively warmer air with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Our next system will be dropping across the state Monday with a chance of a few showers or storms across eastern OK and western Arkansas.
Our high in Tulsa yesterday was 44 recorded at 11:33am.
The normal daily average high is 53 and the low is 31.
Records include a high of 84 from 1962 and a low of -15 from 1905.
