With the growing number of elderly in America, many people have questions of how to care for aging loved ones. A Coweta business owner is providing an alternative to retirement or nursing homes, by opening an adult day care center.

The final touches are still being put on a new business, tucked off Highway 51 in Coweta.

"A lot of people say they don't see this over here," said owner Kristy Bebee.

But owner Kristy Bebee hopes her passion for the elderly will help open the eyes of people passing by. She's opened an adult day care center, to provide another option for Oklahomans with aging parents.

"When people come in here I want them to be taken care of," she said.

"You want them taken care of, but you don't want to leave them there 24/7, and live in a nursing home environment," Bebee said.

Her center allows folks to drop off their relative on their way to work and leave, knowing they'll be taken care of until they pick them up at the end of the day. She says she got the idea, after working with the elderly for years in the medical field.

"Its just a passion and I pray that it works, they did say in five years you will see a lot more adult days," she said.

That's because the number of people over the age of 65 in America is expected to jump from 40 million to nearly 55 million in the next seven years. Kristy says she wants to be well established by then, but more importantly, provide another option for individuals who can no longer care for themselves.

"They still walk, they can still do their daily stuff. They just forget things," said owner Kristy Bebee.

The center will be able to accommodate 24 seniors. It has two entertainment rooms and a place for residents to read or sleep. But Bebee says the most important thing will be the environment provided by the staff.

"I would like for it to be known as the care, when my loved one goes there they are taken care of, that's all that matters to me," she said.

The center is now open, and does accept both Medicaid and Medicare. To learn more, contact Bebee at aplaceclosetohomeadultdaycare@windstream.net
