A Tulsa woman incarcerated at the Tulsa County jail died Friday morning, according to a release from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

A detention officer noticed Gwendolyn Kaye Young, 52, "in distress" and called for emergency medical assistance, the release states. EMSA and Tulsa fire took over from the jail medical staff, and Young was taken to a Tulsa hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m.

The State Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. It appears to be natural causes, according to Major Shannon Clark of Sheriff's Office.

Young was sentenced to a year in jail after being found guilty of threatening a public official in October, 2012, according to court documents.
