A 24-year-old shoplifting suspect is in jail after leading Owasso police on a chase Friday afternoon.
According to the arrest report, an officer responded to a shoplifting in progress at the Walmart at 12101 East 96th Street North, and as he arrived, was told the suspect ran off in the direction of the Lowe's store.
An employee at Lowe's told the officer they saw a man run out the side door. A witness told the officer the man got into a white four-door car. Another officer spotted a car of that description not far away, turning into the El Rio Vista neighborhood, and attempted to follow it.
That's when the suspect sped off, leading the officer on a pursuit that continued onto Highway 75, through a construction zone on East 86th Street North, where workers were present, and it finally ended at the intersection with North Delaware Avenue.
Kyle Hunter was arrested and booked into the Owasso Municipal Jail, before being transported to the Tulsa County jail.
Officers searched the car and found a "slim jim" tool and gloves, which added to the counts against him, the arrest report shows.
Hunter was booked on complaints of eluding an officer, shoplifting, driving with a suspended license, failure to carry insurance, and possession of burglary tools.
