A semi crash slowed traffic in the westbound lanes of Will Rogers Turnpike Monday evening.

It happened near the Port of Catoosa/Verdigris exit, around 7 p.m.

Troopers say the semi was going eastbound when it's front axle failed, causing the trucked to swerve to the right and hit a barricade. It then went back across the road and jumped the concrete barrier in the median, which ripped off its front wheel and the external gas tank.

OHP said the truck ended up facing the wrong way in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the semi escaped uninjured, troopers said. There were at least two vehicles that were damaged by debris from the crash, but no one was injured in either vehicle.

Some westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed while crews worked to clean up the wreck.
