LeFlore County Couple Found Beaten, Burned Outside Their Home

Two Spiro area residents are in a Tulsa hospital after a house fire Monday evening.

The LeFlore County Sheriff's Office says the man and woman were found unconscious and burned in the front yard of the home on Stewart Loop.

Sheriff Rob Seale says his office is treating the case as a domestic abuse situation.

Spiro firefighters found the couple on the ground when they arrived shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Both were flown by medical helicopter to Hillcrest Medical Center's burn unit in Tulsa. Seale says the woman is in critical condition with burns and trauma to her body and the man is in serious condition suffering from smoke inhalation.

Seale says the state Fire Marshal's Office is trying to determine the cause of the fire which gutted most of the home's interior.
