Teen Shot By Cushing Police Dies In Tulsa Hospital

An 18-year-old man has died in a Tulsa hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Cushing Thursday evening.

Cushing Police say it happened just after 7 p.m. in front of The Gym in the 1500 block of East Main.

Police say two officers responding to a disturbance call approached Rabih Ozeir who was standing in the parking lot.

Police say Ozeir pulled out a handgun and threatened officers. Officers ordered Ozeir to drop the gun, but they say Ozeir continued to threaten officers with the gun.

When Ozeir failed to comply with the officers' orders, both officers opened fire striking Ozeir multiple times, according to police.

Ozeir was first taken to a Cushing hospital before being transferred to a Tulsa hospital by a medical helicopter. Police say he died Friday morning.

The state Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy.

Cushing Police say both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is assisting Cushing Police and the Payne County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.

Police say due to that investigation, the names of the officers are not being released.
