The "Blessing Of Waters" was held Sunday afternoon near the pedestrian bridge at 31st and Riverside.

Father George Eber of St. Antony Orthodox Christian Church said the ceremony marks the day of Epiphany, commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ.

"The most visual aspect of the event is when a giant cross-shaped ice sculpture is tossed into the Arkansas River," Father Eber said in a news release.

The joint ceremony, held at 1:30 p.m., included prayer for Tulsa, its elected officials and those serving their country in the military. St. Antony, Holy Trinity and Holy Apostles Churches participated in the blessing.
