Neighbors woke up a Sand Springs woman whose house was on fire late Friday night. The structure fire took place in the 300 block of North Walnut.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 10:45 p.m., according to Sand Springs Fire Chief Mike Wood. Wood said crews saw heavy smoke when they arrived and made entry into the home.
The fire apparently started in a wall on the first floor and spread the second story of the home. Damaged was mostly confined to the back of the house.
"The house has been added onto a few times so it made it a little difficult for us to get to the fire," Wood said.
The woman's niece came home from work as crews knocked down the house fire. She said her aunt was sleeping in the home and was awakened by alert neighbors.
Wood said three companies responded to the house fire. Two medical calls came in at the same time, and the city was assisted on those calls by Tulsa and Berryhill Fire Departments.
