Police said several shots were fired into two apartments with several people, including young children, inside.

The shots were fire from between two apartment buildings at The Meadows apartments at 2800 South 115th East Avenue at around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

A 23-year-old woman was injured in the forehead, though police said it wasn't clear yet whether she was grazed by a bullet or hit by shrapnel as bullets came through the windows.

Police said one apartment had three or four people inside, while the one where the woman was injured had six or seven people inside. Officers said young children were present in both apartments.

Investigators said it seemed eight or nine small-caliber shots were fired, and that the shots appeared to come from one weapon. Police said they are looking for one suspect, but do not have a description at this time.

Police said the injured woman was taken to a local hospital where she was stable. They described her injury as "minor."
