Five Women Arrested For Shoplifting In Tulsa And Broken Arrow

Five women are in jail after leading Broken Arrow Police on a chase Monday evening. Police say the five women were all arrested on grand larceny complaints from stores in Broken Arrow and Tulsa.

"Broken Arrow has witnesses and loss prevention from Dillards was able to identify some merchandise from their store," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Malcolm Whightman.

Police were alerted by employees and customers at the Ross store in the 3600 block of South Elm Place, who said the women gathered up clothes and headed for the register before running out the door.

"They had some plans, as far as what they were going to do, they worked together to take the items, and this isn't going to be the first time they've done something like this," said Broken Arrow Police Corporal Leon Calhoun.

Broken Arrow police spotted the car just a few blocks from the store, but said the driver didn't stop, so they chased the suspects into Tulsa, all the way to 71st and Mingo.

After police made the stop, they discovered more stolen merchandise in the car, including some items from this Dillards store at Woodland Hills Mall.

That included a set of luggage and more clothing, more than enough to qualify for grand larceny charges, because the loot was worth more than $1,500.

Police arrested Shahara Barnes, 29, Juliet Harding, 22, Ceonna Brown, 21, Marie McCullum, 30, and Tries Boyd, 36.

All five women were arrested on the larceny complaint, and two on eluding officers, because they switched drivers during the pursuit.

"I don't know if they thought one could do a better job of getting away from the police or not, because I don't think they were worried about driving without a license at that point," Calhoun said.

All five were booked into a Broken Arrow jail.

Tulsa Police said they're still investigating whether more stores were involved.

They believe it's possible because of how organized this group seemed to be.
