Three Tulsa men's soccer players were named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Men's Soccer NCAA Division I Midwest All-Region teams. Cristian Mata and Omar Mata were both tabbed to the first team, while Tony Rocha was a third-team honoree.
Cristian had a team-best 14 goals, including five game-winners, and six assists for 34 points as true freshman forward. He ranked ninth in points per game (1.7), 12th in total points, 13th in goals per game (0.7) and total goals, and 83rd in total assists among the nation's best. Cristian was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year, was an All-C-USA first team and C-USA All-Freshman team selection, was a two-time C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honoree, was tabbed to the College Soccer News Team of the Week once, was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Top-100 Freshman List and TDS Freshman Team of the Season, and was a College Sports Madness Freshman of the Year and CSM All-C-USA First Team honoree.
A junior midfielder, Omar tallied seven goals, including three game-winners, and six assists for 20 points on the year. He was selected to the All-C-USA first team, the College Sports Madness All-C-USA first team, the Top Drawer Soccer Top-100 List and the TDS C-USA Top-20 List. Omar ranked 83rd in total assists and 86th in total points among the nation's best.
Rocha, a sophomore defender, recorded one game-winning goal and four assists for six points on the season. He also helped TU register eight shutouts and hold its opponents to a 1.1 goals per game average, while the Hurricane scored 2.29 goals per game. Rocha was an All-C-USA third team honoree and was selected to the C-USA All-Tournament team.
