The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed its draft of the Environmental Impact Statement for Eufaula Lake's shoreline and it is now available for public review and comment.
The Corps says the shoreline management plan [SMP] has not been revised for over 10 years and related utilization maps have not been revised for over 30 years.
Residents who live around the lake can view the document online at www.swt.usace.army.mil.
The Corps is holding a workshop on the SMP on December 19 starting at 6 p.m. at Eufaula Middle School's gym.
In the document, the Corps says this draft revision of the SMP was prompted by a project request that would require the leasing of government land and changes in land use classifications.
Once comments are received, the Corps of Engineers will issue a final environmental impact statement which again will be open to review.
Residents can also access the information at the Corps Facebook page at www.facebook.com/usacetulsa.
