Oral Roberts women's soccer players senior Lauren Parks and junior Jennifer Abernathy were named to the All-Central Region Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Both student-athletes have been honored this season on multiple occasions, including being named to the All-Southland First Team, as well as helping the Golden Eagles to the Academic Team Award awarded by the NSCAA in late November.
Parks, a native of Edmond, finished her career as the anchor to one of the top defenses in the Southland. A four year starter, Parks started all but one match in 2012, putting in two goals and assisting on two others. She was honored throughout the season as well, bringing home the conference defensive player of the week award twice.
Roaming midfield all season in front of Parks, Abernathy was tied for second on the Golden Eagle squad with four goals, as well as recording five assists. The Broken Arrow, native started each of the 19 matches she played in for the Golden Eagles. She also was named player of the week twice by the conference for her offensive play.
The Golden Eagles closed their season with a 2-1 loss to eventual Southland champions Stephen F. Austin in the conference semifinal match, capping 12-7-2 overall record in 2012.
