Tulsa Police: Copper Thief Caught Inside Abandoned Hotel

Police arrested a man they say was stealing copper from an abandoned hotel on East Skelly Drive early Thursday.

Tulsa Police got a call from security about some rustling noises coming from inside the old Trade Winds hotel.

As officers entered the hotel they spotted Ellis Horne, 47, and another man in a stairwell holding what officers said was copper and burglary tools.

They arrested Horne but the other man ran away.

Horne was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of 2nd degree burglary and larceny and possession of copper wire.

Ellis has since bonded out of jail, but has a December 6th court date.
