Tulsa Women's Basketball Falls To Loyola Marymount

The Golden Hurricane blew a 15-point halftime lead in a 75-74 loss to Loyola Marymount.

The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 75-74 decision to Loyola Marymount on Saturday afternoon at the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas. TU fell to 0-5 on the season, while LMU moved to 4-3 overall.

Taleya Mayberry recorded a team-leading 21 points, five assists and two steals in 28 minutes of action after playing just eight minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. Tiffani Couisnard posted a double-double with 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. She also registered three assists, two steals and two blocks in the contest. Ashley Clark had 10 points and six rebounds.

Couisnard had a team-best 12 points to lead the Hurricane to a 37-22 advantage at the break. TU shot a solid 51-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, had just six turnovers and recorded five steals.

In the second half, LMU outscored Tulsa, 53-37, and forced 10 TU turnovers. The Hurricane shot just 28-percent in the second half.

The Lions were led by Alex Cowling with 19 points, while Hazel Ramirez and Melinda Gomez each had 10. Mackenzie Kerins posted 10 rebounds.

Tulsa will return to action on Thursday against Utah Valley. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
