The Oral Roberts women's hoops team suffered its second loss in three days, dropping a 79-47 decision to UALR on Wednesday evening at the Jack Stephens Center. With the setback, ORU's record falls to 2-2.
The first half was ORU's undoing, as the Trojans (3-1) outscored the Golden Eagles 51-18, putting the game away with 20 minutes still to play.
UALR's Taylor Gault scored 25 points in the first half and finished with 31 for the game to lead all scorers. The sophomore was 5-for-8 from three-point range.
Freshman Taylor Cooper came on strong in the second half and led ORU with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kevi Luper added 12 points and Jaci Bigham chipped in 10 for the Golden Eagles, who shot 34.0% (18-for-53) from the floor.
The Trojans shot 49.2% (32-for-65) including a 55.9% clip in the first half.
The victory was the first for UALR over the Golden Eagles. Oral Roberts had won two previous meetings with the Trojans, in 1988 and 2011.
Hannah Fohne and Taylor Ford each scored 10 points to help UALR to victory.
The Golden Eagles return to the court on Thursday, November 29, when they face Missouri State.
