Haikey Creek Sewage Plant To Receive $6.5 million In Upgrades

The Broken Arrow Municipal Authority received a multimillion-dollar, low-interest loan Wednesday to renovate one of its wastewater treatment plants, according to a news release from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

The $6,540,000 loan from the OWRB will be coupled with $500,000 in local revenues, the release said.

The money is earmarked for renovation of the 29-year-old Haikey Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Haikey Creek sewage lift station, officials said.

Some of the funds will be used to replace the flow equalization basin liner, improve the basin's wash-down system and increase its capacity. The liner will be replaced because the existing 25-year-old liner is damaged, ripped and torn, and state agencies mandate replacement.

Other repairs will also be made.

The entire project is expected to take about 7 months to complete.
