The BOK tower was lit up Thursday night with some big news from the Tulsa Area United Way.
The organization raised more during its 2012 fundraising campaign than it has in its 88-year history, with a total of $25,575,522.
The record-shattering amount surpassed the campaign goal of $24,900,000 by more than $675,000 and broke the local United Way's all-time fundraising record of $25,025,000, set 10 years ago.
"We made history tonight," said Mark Graham, President and CEO of the Tulsa Area United Way, told more than 300 cheering guests at the annual "Unite!" celebration Thursday. "Each and every one of you helped us reach this milestone. Tulsans have once again demonstrated their generosity and concern for their community."
Graham said all of the funds raised above the goal will be invested back into the community.
