A judge has overruled the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association's decision to suspend eight Sequoyah Tahlequah football players for Friday night's game against Hilldale.
After a hearing this morning, the judge decided to keep in place his temporary restraining order on behalf of three of the suspended players. The other five players are eligible to play as well since the restraining order was upheld.
However, head coach Brent Scott is still suspended, as the restraining order did not pertain to him, only the players.
The OSSAA suspended the eight players when it discovered they had participated in summer camps and had not paid for the camps themselves, which is a violation of OSSAA rules.
The players asked the judge to grant a temporary restraining order against the OSSAA, which he did on Thursday.
The judge upheld the restraining order Friday morning, allowing the players to play, ruling that the OSSAA did not have the authority to declare them ineligible while its investigation is pending.
Sequoyah takes on Hilldale at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
