Tulsa police are searching for two young men who broke into a home in midtown and held two women hostage for several hours at gunpoint.

Police said Friday afternoon that they located the victims' silver Mercedes, but they are still searching for the suspects.

It all started in the 3900 block south of Darlington, near 39th and Yale.

The police were called to the house, but only after the whole ordeal had ended—two hours of terror for Carmanita Hughes and her 18-year-old granddaughter.

"Somebody knocked on my window and opened the door and put a gun right here, and I thought, ‘I can talk them out of this.' silly me," Hughes said.

Hughes was backing out of her driveway when two men with guns forced her to close the door and go back inside.

Her granddaughter was still in bed and Hughes hoped they would pass her by, but they didn't.

"And that's how I woke her up—with two men carrying guns in her room," Hughes said.

For the next two hours, the robbers went through the house picking out what they wanted, with Hughes negotiating all the way.

She talked them out of a laptop and her mother's jewelry.

At one point they fired shots into the floor.

They wanted cash and she didn't have any, so they forced the two of them to drive to 51st and Sheridan, to a bank drive thru and cash a check.

"They kept saying, ‘I've got a gun to your neck, I've got a gun on your neck,' you know, driving to the bank," Hughes said.

When they got back to the house, they loaded up everything and left in her car.

"They loaded my car and took it somewhere to dump the stuff and told me I could find my car. That's how it ended," Hughes said.

Tulsa Police took boxes of forensic evidence from the house and took the family downtown to get more information.

The two women were shaken up, but otherwise not hurt.

"Oh, I'm so grateful, yes, especially my granddaughter," Hughes said.

Police found the stolen vehicle, a 2006 silver Mercedes R-35 station wagon with tinted windows, behind the Taco Bell at 4703 East 51st Street at 2:52 p.m.

Police are still searching for the two suspects.

They said both suspects were young black men. One was about 6 ft. tall and 160 lbs., and had the word "Jerrell" tattooed on his neck.

Police said the other suspect was shorter, but there's no better description of him.

If you have any information about these two men, you should call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
